Tragically, the Southeast Missouri Region has had it’s share of drownings in recent years. In response, concerned individuals and businesses have banded together to form the Southeast Missouri Regional Water Safety Council, Inc. We are proud to have the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as one of it’s members. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the number one provider of water based recreation. Two of the Corps of Engineers projects located in Southeast Missouri are Wappapello Lake and Clearwater Lake. The council was incorporated as Nonprofit Corporation under Missouri Nonprofit Corporation Law. The council is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, as amended. The council maintains affiliation with the National Water Safety Congress. The council is seeking new ways to promote water safety. You can enjoy the rewarding experience of helping by joining us. We meet at 5:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month March thru October at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor’s Center, Wappapello Lake, Missouri. “Together We Will Make A Difference”
